Alex Wurden started his STEM background through award-winning projects at the International Science and Engineering Fair, internships at Los Alamos National Laboratories, and jobs as a programmer and lab technician at a tech startup company. He was a National Merit Scholar at UC-San Diego, majoring in Psychology and Music and minoring in Physics, and is currently halfway through a Masters in Education Technology at Arizona State University. Alex Wurden has been teaching for twelve years, covering Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, Algebra II, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Engineering. He hosts multiple after school clubs including the esports team, supports students in a study hall, and is a district lead author for the new science curriculum. Alex is married with two wonderful kids, enjoys running, triathlon, skiing, gaming, and various projects in the garage including home-brewing and scratch-building custom PC's.

Why did you become a NASEF Scholastic Fellow?

I chose to become a NASEF Scholastic Fellow because I'd like to team up with other educators to build our community, develop the resources we need, and shape esports into a powerfully positive opportunity for students.
